The discovery of a strong antimicrobial property in Manuka honey by Dr Peter Molan MBE led him to focus his efforts on sourcing and harvesting this unique honey. Dr Molan found that not all Manuka honey has the same level of antibacterial activity. Through his research it became evident that some areas of Manuka forest do not produce honey with active properties every year, and the concentrations of activity can vary from batch to batch, and from region to region.
